Erich B. Groos, Jr., M. D.

Dr. Erich B. Groos, Jr. became the 52nd president of the Tennessee Academy of Ophthalmology (TAO) on March 15, 2006.

Dr. Groos earned his medical degree from Vanderbilt University in 1987 and served his residency at the University of Wisconsin in 1991. He did a fellowship in Cornea & External Disease at the University of California-Davis and was certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology in 1992. Dr. Groos returned to Nashville, his family home, to practice ophthalmology. Dr. Groos has served on the TAO Board of Directors since 1994 as a Mid Tennessee Representative, Secretary/Treasurer, Health Plans Committee Chair, Legislative Committee Chair, and President-Elect. In 2002, Dr. Groos graduated from the American Academy of Ophthalmology's Leadership Development Program. Dr. Groos term as president will run from March 15, 2006 through December 31, 2008.

Dr. Groos practices ophthalmology at Cornea Associates in Nashville, Tennessee, with his partners, Drs. Ira Shivitz and Bernard Chang.
