Even though we are not expecting scope of practice issues in 2007, we cannot afford to let our guard down and be complacent. It is extremely important for each and every member of the TAO to make a contribution to the Eye-MD PAC. A strong PAC means a strong defense in case of an unexpected scope bill. The TAO lobbyists and the TAO PAC Committee cannot work effectively without your generous contributions.

An important issue that we will be working on again in 2007 is the fight for medical liability reform. In the 2006 session, a coalition of medical associations, including the Tennessee Academy of Ophthalmology (TAO), worked with the Tennessee Medical Association (TMA) to pass medical liability reform ... but the bill died in committee. So we will tackle it again in the 2007 session. Check the website periodically for updated information.
